UP Cebu wins award in international confab

The University of the Philippines Cebu’s video is recognized as the Most Creative Corporate Institution Video among academic institutions in Asia during the  5th QS-Maple Professional Leaders in Education Conference and Exhibit 2015 in Doha, Qatar.

According to the UP Cebu website, Prof. Gregg Lloren, the video’s creative director received the award yesterday at the Riz Carlton Hotel in Doha.

The video’s theme featured a mother working as a puso (hanging rice) maker struggling to make both ends meet. It highlighted the importance of quality education as a tool to help people overcome life’s challenges and encourage them to give back to the community.

“This puts UP Cebu in the map of academic institutions that lead in creative and persuasive visual communication,” said Lloren.

The video production team is composed of Lloren as creative director; Jiji Borlaza as line producer; Januar Yap, Shane Carreon and Lilia Tio as writers; Ruel Antepuesto as cinematographer; Palmy Tudtud as art director; Tiffany Tan and Gretchen Chaves for marketing and branding.

Playing the role of mother in the video is Prof. Ligaya Rabago,  while members of the UPC UPSTAGE theater group played the other characters.

The competition was open to all 5th QS-MAPLE participating institutions with registered delegates, exhibitors, advertisers or sponsors.

The 5th QS-MAPLE Creative Awards competition is organized to recognize the importance of creative and compelling designs in effective communication and brand building.
