After the success of the recent ‘Halad kang Mano Amon’ run which drew the participation of around 600 runners from all over Cebu, Danao City will host another big sports spectacle before the year ends.
This time, it will be the bikers’ turn to race in the northern city of Cebu as the ‘Halad kang Mano Amon’ Cycling Classic, which is being held in honor of Danao’s grand old man, the late Ramon ‘Mano Amon’ Durano Sr., fires off on Dec. 29 in Danao City.
A total of 65 riders have already registered for the event, which is a road race that will start from and will cover the main streets of Danao to Lugo and back to the city’s golf course.
A total of 40 riders have already signified their intentions to join the 40-below category, while the 40-above division has attracted a total of 25 riders.
Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, top honcho for the Danao City Sports Commission office announced that they will be releasing together all the participants regardless of the categories they have entered into to make the race more exciting.
Plaques will be given away to the top five performers, while organizers will provide packed lunch for all the participants after the race aside from the free transportation for the riders from Cebu City to Danao and vice-versa.
