THE BARAKO Bull Energy Colas and the Alaska Aces face highly touted opponents as they gun for a piece of the lead in the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup today at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The Energy Colas battle the newly crowned Commissioner’s Cup champions Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, while the Aces take on the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the main game.

Barako Bull and Alaska both sport 2-0 (win-loss) cards, sharing the second place behind the GlobalPort Batang Pier, who are off to a franchise-best 3-0 start.

Behind 6-foot-11 import Liam McMorrow, Barako Bull started the tournament with a 101-96 win over the NLEX Road Warriors and followed it up with a 105-90 triumph over the Blackwater Elite.

Alaska, which has been getting steady performances from import Romeo Travis, opened its campaign with a lopsided 106-80 win over Blackwater then survived a big resurgence by the Barangay Ginebra Kings to bag its second victory, 108-99.

Against Rain or Shine, Alaska will be facing former import Wendell McKines.

McKines’ second tour of duty got off to faulty start after Rain or Shined yielded to the San Miguel Beermen last Tuesday, 91-104, where the brawny import tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds.
