KRIZAL Gutang racked up four straight wins yesterday to lead the Cebu Rapid Chess Club Kiddies Chess Tournament at the Elizabeth Mall.
Gutang has 4.0 points in seven-round tournament co-presented by Niñas School and Book Supply Store.
Gutang, the 14th seed, beat 21st seed John Andrei Cadiz yesterday.
Second-seed Alphecca Gonzales and fourth-seed Marian Calimbo grabbed the second and third spots with 3.5 points. Regina Catherine Quiñanola is at fourth spot while third-seed John Lester Belano is at fifth also with 3.5 points.
The tournament is organized by Dr. Veronica Abangan and FIDE Arbiter Felix Poloyapoy.
The tournament champion will pocket P2,500 while the second and third placers will get P1,500 and P1,000. Fourth to 10th placers will receive P300.
The tournament is sponsored by Cano-Ame Mini Mart, Club Summer Photo Gallery, Coffee V, Petersports Craft and San Roque Women’s Action Progress.
