All USC-Ateneo de Cebu finals in M Lhuillier hoop

IN AN INTRIGUING turn of events, the University of San Carlos (USC) and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu will be meeting in all three final games of the different age groups in the M. Lhuillier Summer League after they overcame their respective opponents in the semifinals last Monday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

In the under-12 division, USC advanced to the finals, 29-27, after they edged out the University of the Visayas, thanks to a late three-pointer by Reinhard Jumamaoy. UV had the upper hand, 27-26, after Christian Alilin converted on a basket but Jumamoy had other ideas as he launched and made a triple with two seconds remaining to give USC the victory. He finished with 14 markers.

Ateneo de Cebu grabbed the other finals slot after handily beating the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 56-34.

In the under-15 class, USC outclassed USC-South, 73-28, while Ateneo de Cebu scored a 51-42 win over USPF to book a date in the finals.

In the under-19 division, the USC-B Warriors bested Ateneo de Cebu 2 in overtime, 68-61.

Dolan Adlawan helped USC B clinch the win with four crucial points in the extra session. Jair Igna led the way for the Warriors with 17. Standing opposite them in the finals will be Ateneo de Cebu 1, which creamed USC-BED, 48-38, behind the 15 points of Josh Sinclair.
