Three employees of the Cebu provincial government tested positive for illegal drug use in a surprise test yesterday at the Capitol’s legislative building.
However, the results are still subject to confirmatory tests, said Joey Herrera, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CPADAC).
Pending final results, the three employees can still continue with their functions, he said.
They will face dismissal if they still test positive in the confirmatory test.
A total of 114 workers, composed of regular, casual and job order employees from the Office of the Governor, Vice Governor and Provincial Board, were asked in a memorandum to submit urine samples on the spot.
However, only 90 showed up and complied.
Herrera said CPADAC has yet to find out why the other 24 employees did not show up.
The drug test was held from 8 a.m to 11:30 a.m.
It was the second random drug testing conducted on Capitol employees this year.
The first wave of tests took placed on Monday.
A total of 57 out of 63 newly hired casual and job order employees from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Information and Communications Technology Office and Provincial Engineering Office took part.
Four employees were found positive for drug use in the initial test. Results are still subject to confirmatory testing.
