Fourteen persons, including four children, who were bound for a spring were injured when their multicab lost its brake while traversing a downhill road in barangay Legaspi, Alegria town, southern Cebu shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday.
P01 Julemark Yap, desk officer of the Alegria Police Station, said the victims were on board a multicab driven and owned by Richard Sta. Ana, 36, from Asinan, Mandaue City, who was on a vacation in the house of his in-laws in Boljoon.
Sta. Ana and the victims were on their way to Mainit Spring in Malabuyoc but decided to pass the road in the mountain area of Alegria for a shorter trip.
While negotiating a downhill curve, the multicab lost its brake so Sta. Ana decided to ram his multicab into a coconut tree.
Sta. Ana and the passenger in the front seat were thrown out of the vehicle sustaining bruises in the different parts of the body.
