Beware of fake Lista takers, public warned

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development is warning the public against fake enumerators.

Enumerators are persons tasked by DSWD to assess target households in a certain area, said Kerwin Macopia, DSWD 7 information officer.

Enumerators conduct interviews for the DSWD survey for their Listahan program, which identifies programs of poor families.

Macopia gave the warning with the second round of surveys for the program  ongoing in Central Visayas.

Several fake enumerators reportedly duped  households in Calabarzon by asking P20 from each household.

“So far we haven’t received any reports here in Central Visayas,” Macopia said.

Accoding to Macopia, a certified enumerator wears a  red DSWD vest with an ID signed by DSWD Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat.

Ruben Boybanting, DSWD-7’s Project Development Officer 7, said  the survey is for free and interviews are to be done inside the house.

Grace Subong, DSWD-7 Institutional Development Division chief, said that the last survey held last 2009 showed that there were 314,264 poor households in Central Visayas out of 800,000.

“All  data should be updated,” she said about the ongoing survey.

The DSWD  targets more than a million household in the region for this survey.

“We have raised the number of target households to be in the survey because many were affected during the past calamities,” Subong added.
