A nine-year-old girl was wounded after she was hit by a stray bullet while playing outside their house in barangay Cantibas, Balamban town, midwest Cebu early morning today.
Victim Leah Cavan sustained a gunshot wound on her chest after their neighbor Alselmo Balbona,53 who is a retired fireman purportedly fired his gun indiscriminately that hit Leah while the victim was playing outside their house, a couple of meters from the suspect’s residence.
PO1 Teofilo Verano Jr, desk officer said they were able to trace the suspect after a concerned citizen informed them that Balbona has been known on the neighborhood on firing his gun indiscriminately.
He was arrested a few minutes after the incident but the firearm used was not recovered.
While the victim was brought to Balamban District Hospital initially and later transferred to Vicente Sotto Medical Center (VSMMC).
