KIA CARNIVAL moved up to joint second place after they pulled off a hard-earned 83-76 double overtime win over fellow expansion team Blackwater Elite yesterday in the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Asian import Tsung-Hsien Chang fired a game-high 25 points to lead Kia’s third win in four games that allowed them to tie the Alaska Aces at second spot behind the league-leading Barako Bull Energy Colas (4-0).
Kia’s regular seven-foot import Hamady N’Diaye added 16 points, while pint-sized pointguard LA Revilla contributed 10 points.
Cebuano guard Brian Heruela finished with 19 markers for Blackwater, which dropped to the bottom of the standings with its fourth loss against a single win.
Marcus Douthit scattered 16 points, while former Kia stalwart added 13 points.
Blackwater acquired Cervantes in exchange for Alex Nuyles, who chipped in eight points for Kia.
