THE CEBU Executives and Professional Chess Association (Cepca) will distribute several chess sets to selected elementary schools around Cebu City as part of their upcoming 25th founding anniversary this September.
Cepca president Jerry Maratas said the distribution is part of the group’s chess development program for this year. The selected elementary schools have yet to be named.
Also, still a part of its anniversary celebration, a simultaneous exhibition match by US-based chess Grandmaster Enrico “Econg” Sevillano was staged last Sunday at the Handuraw Pizza in Gorordo.
A total of 26 participants joined the event but only Felix Shaun Balbona managed to escape with a victory.
