Games today:
Smart-Araneta
4:15 p.m. – Blackwater vs Meralco
7 p.m. – Talk ‘N Text vs GlobalPort
FINALLY complete with the return of both Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo from their respective injuries, the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters hope to sustain their run and gain a share of the lead when they face off against the GlobalPort Batang Pier today in the PBA Governors’ Cup over at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
After missing the conference’s first three games, Castro sparked the Texters with his usual frenetic play en route to tallying 19 points in a 108-89 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors that gave them their third win in four games and a share of second place at 3-1 with the Kia Carnival.
A win tonight will put them alongside the league-leading Alaska Aces and Barako Bull Energy, both holding similar 4-1 (win-loss) cards.
Fiba Asia’s “Best Point Guard” added five rebounds, five assists and a steal in a performance that bodes well for the Commissioner’s Cup ruler and not so much for the rest of the field, including the Batang Pier, who the Texters face tonight.
GlobalPort is coming off a 112-119 loss to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a game that was held in Dubai.
Barely noticed because of the defeat was the 40-point performance of GlobalPort’s franchise guard, Terrence Romeo. The loss also sullied the debut of new import Jarrid Famous, who scored 26 in his first game for the Batang Pier.
