No to job order budget insertion-Talisay mayor

TALISAY City Mayor Johnny V. De los Reyes vetoes the Council’s insertion of a provision in the budget giving the councilors 50 job order workers each.

In a letter sent to the Council, the mayor said the city could not afford to have 50 job order employees per councilor.

The appropriation ordinance’s section 5, which de los Reyes vetoed, also provides 100 job order workers for the vice mayor and three for each barangay captain.

Councilor Socrates Fernandez proposed this particular provision saying that the mayor had kept changing his mind on the issue.

“Murag walay palabra de honor si mayor,” said Fernandez, a member of the Alayon party. The mayor, on the other hand, is with the Liberal party.

Fernandez said their group will still study their move in reaction to the mayor’s veto.
