JAMES  Yap finally came out of his shell and the Star Hotshots halted a four-game losing streak with an 89-80 win over the  pesky Kia Carnivals yesterday in an out-of-town game of the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Coming up with by far his best game in the conference, Yap fired 23 points to help Star stop the bleeding and tally just its second win in six games.

Yap sank four three-pointers, scoring 16 of his total output in the first half where the Hotshots led by double digits.

Yap himself sealed the win for the Hotshots, nailing crucial two triples in the dying seconds that stymied Kia’s comeback attempt.

Import Marqus Blakely backed Yap with 23 points.

The loss snapped Kia’s two game win streak, as it tasted its second loss in five games. Kia came into the match looking to tie Alaska and Barako Bull, which share the lead with identical 4-1 (win-loss) records.
