THE Cebu City Council is requesting Mayor Michael Rama to increase the monthly incentives that City Hall gives to personnel of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
Councilor Margarita “Margot” Osmeña, who authored the resolution passed by the council last week, said former CCPO officer in charge Sr. Supt. Conrado Capa has written Rama asking for the increase.
“The Cebu City Police Office has a mission to serve and protect the people and property of Cebu City and has so far been successful towards attaining this goal,” said Osmeña, who heads the committee on budget and finance, in her resolution.
The council approved Osmeña’s proposal to increase the incentives for 1,141 policemen and non-uniformed personnel of the CCPO to P4,000 from the current P2,500.
For the 53 inspectors, the council approved a P3,500 increase to P6,000. Assistant city directors for administration and operation will receive P8,000 instead of the current P7,000.
For the CCPO director, the council approved an increase to P10,000 from P8,000.
In a letter to Rama last February, Capa said the PNP personnel received P4,000 from the city government in previous years. But this was reduced to P2,500 in a council resolution last December.
Capa asked the city government to restore the allowance to the original amount and at the same time include the increase for the other police officials. Capa requested that the increase be included in the city’s next supplemental budget.
“Various arrests and running after those lawless elements yielded positive results which made our beloved city ideal to live and do business (in),” Capa said in his letter. Osmeña’s office received the letter last March.
