Man charged for giving wife STD

Aman is facing trial for allegedly infecting his wife with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and for abandoning his children.

Bernie (not his real name) was charged before the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City with psychological abuse filed by his wife Anie (not her real name).

The Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office found sufficient grounds to indict Bernie. Bail was recommended at P12,000.

Cebu Daily News is withholding the identities of the parties in the case which will be raffled off to a family court.

In her complaint, Anie said she and Bernie became lovers when she was 16 years old.

Anie got pregnant and she eventually decided to marry the accused at the age of 18.

After giving birth to her eldest child, Anie said she was infected with a sexually transmitted disease. She confronted Bernie, who denied causing the disease.

Anie said her husband started going out with other women after she gave birth to their second child.

“He (Bernie) was then transformed from a loving boyfriend to a domineering and abusive spouse, growing negligent of their children’s needs,” said Prosecutor Noel Cellona who resolved the case.

Anie claimed she was verbally abused by her husband in front of their friends.

She said she was sick with STD and her husband admitted he had infected  her with the disease.

Anie said her husband abandoned her and their two children.   She later learned that her husband was in a relationship with another woman, with whom he allegedly has a child.

Anie said her husband also withdrew financial support.
