Inquirer-CDN blasts TV5 in NBAC caging

THE INQUIRER-Cebu Daily News (CDN) Siloys moved up to solo second place in the team standings after they posted a fight-marred 82-71 win over TV5-Cebu yesterday in the 2015 Newsmen Basketball Association of Cebu (NBAC) at the Cebu Eastern College Gym.

The Siloys recovered from a 54-70 loss to Sun.Star Daily last week, bucking the ejection of gunner Jonas Panerio midway through the final period to post their second win in three games.

Tension flared up late in the game after Panerio and TV5’s burly center Noel Sanico figured in a shouting match and nearly came to blows. Fortunately, the proverbial cooler heads prevailed.

Panerio and Sanico were both tossed out from the game.

The Siloys were in control for the better part of the game behind the playmaking of Johnny Tabuco, who finished with a game-high 26 points. Panerio added 12 points, while Leo Alberio, Calvin Cordova and Edouard Illut chipped in 10 points each.

Ronil Catolico fired 19 points, while Sanico added 15 in TV5’s second loss in three games.

In the main game, GMA-7 Kapuso remained undefeated after three games after it nipped Sun.Star (1-2), 94-82.
