A House bill renaming the Philippine Public Safety College–Regional Training School 7 in Consolacion town, northern Cebu into Philippine Public Safety College-Camp Jesse M. Robredo has been approved recently.
Authored by Cebu’s 6th District Representative Gabriel Luis Quisumbing, House Bill 5661 entitled “An Act Renaming The Philippine Public Safety College-Regional Training School 7 (PPSC-RTS 7) into Philippine Public Safety College-Camp Jesse M.
Robredo” was approved by the House committee on Higher and Technical Education on June 8, 2015.
The PPSC-RTS 7 holds training for the uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Bureau of Fire Protection.
Quisumbing filed the bill in recognition of the late Interior secretary Jesse M. Robredo’s contributions and unfailing sense of duty to the nation.
It was on Aug. 18, 2012, when former Robredo led the groundbreaking ceremony of the PPSC’s regional training school in Consolacion town. After the event Robredo figured in a fatal plane crash on his way back to Bicol.
“May his work and leadership serve as an inspiration for the highest standards of public service,” said Quisumbing.
“We are happy with the approval of HB5661 and look forward to its passage into law. Overdue but necessary all the same, we are pushing to rename the PPSC regional training center in Consolacion, Cebu as PPSC Camp Jesse Robredo in honor of Secretary Jesse M. Robredo’s legacy” added Quisumbing.
