Malaysia eyes tourism tie-ups with Cebu

CEBU and Malaysia can complement each other in terms of coming up with a combined tourism package.

Malaysia’s tourism director general Dato Mirza Bin Mohammad Taiyab, who was in Cebu yesterday for their special campaign and networking with local tourism stakeholders, said there are a lot of products that Cebu has that’s not in Malaysia and vice versa.

“I noticed Cebu’s beautiful beaches, but there’s not much trees. In Malaysia, our trees are taller than a 20-story building. Perhaps, we can come up with a package offering that,” he said.

Taiyab said that they are now talking with government authorities specifically the Cebu Provincial government for partnership opportunities that Malaysia can explore specifically with Cebu.

Cebu provincial tourism officer Grace Paulino confirmed this and said that Cebu has an existing agreement with Sarawak in Malaysia.
