THE LA SALLE Green Archers completed the semifinal cast after they dropped Group B top seed Perpetual Help from contention with a thrilling 81-79 win in the quarterfinals of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup last Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.
The Archers now face-off against UAAP rivals Far Eastern University (FEU) in the knockout semis, which commences today at the same venue.
The other Final Four pairing will see an all-NCAA clash between the San Beda Red Lions and the vastly-improved Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers.
Forward Jason Perkins gave La Salle the win with a basket that came off a nifty pass from Jeron Teng with 0.6 of a second left that broke a 79-all deadlock.
Teng led four players in double-figures for La Salle with 19 while Perkins finished with 11.
FEU ended the impressive run of the Central Escolar University (CEU) Pink Scorpions, 73-68, on Wednesday behind the heads-up play of former Cebu Eastern College pivotman Raymar Jose, who had 16 points and seven rebounds.
The loss was a bitter pill to swallow for CEU, which topped Group B with a 7-1 win-loss record.
In other games, the Heavy Bombers pasted the University of the East Red Warriors, 76-67, behind the one-two punch of Paolo Pontejos and Chris dela Paz.
Pontejos had 23 while dela Paz pitched in 20 points and nine boards to push JRU to the next round.
