Lapu-lapu raid nets P1.5M worth of ‘shabu’

Packs of suspected shabu worth P1.5 million were seized from a drug suspect and her companion  in a buy-bust operation in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday night.

Meriam Ampaso, 39, a native of Lanao del Norte, was arrested by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office after along with her companion  Jeffrey Casil, 28.

Senior Insp. Verniño Noserale, CIB chief, said they were arrested shortly after the couple  sold a medium-sized pack of  shabu worth P8,000 to a poseur-buyer.

One large pack of suspected shabu weighing 100 grams, five medium-sized packs of suspected shabu and P3,500 cash were  seized from the suspects, said police.

Both suspects are detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Noserale said Ampaso’s name is not on the police watchlist and could be a  newbie in the illegal drug trade. .

She was placed under surveillance for two weeks before the buy-bust operation.

A few hours before the Marigondon operation, three men were also arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Pajac.

Arrested were Geoffry Mordiga, 33; Rico Baclohan, 38; and Jimuel Bilela, 28.

Packs of shabu worth P100,000 were seized from the three men, said police.

Senior Insp. Alcon Escusora, chief of Marigondon Police Station, said they started monitoring the three men after receiving reports about a suspicious transaction between the suspects and some

students.
