Sorongon tops Kapamilya Run for 11th title of the year

Ruffa Sorongon showed her dominant form just two days after winning another footrace, topping the 21-kilometer distance of the DYAB Kapamilya Run yesterday that ended at the Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.

The win was Sorongon’s 11th of the year in the local scene and second in a span of three days. She recently topped the 15k race of the Independence Day Solidarity run last Friday.

The 23-year-old Sorongon finished the Kapamilya race with a time of  one hour, 30 minutes and 59 seconds.

The Sultan Kudarat-native bested Dumaguete City’s Mereeis Ramirez, who finished in second place with a time of 1:40.51. Michelle Beboso placed third, clocking 1:44.49.

In the men’s 21k race, Davao City’s Jobert Carolino logged his second straight victory after coming back to race in Cebu.

He finished with a time of 1:14.21 to emerge champion, beating Ramil Neri who settled for second with a time of 1:15.07.

Michael Largo landed at third with a time of 1:17.53.

Carolino also dominated the men’s 15k race of the Independence Day Solidarity Run, which marked his first win after a long break.

Winners in the 10k race were Lovely Fe Andrin and Prince Joey Lee.

Andrin clocked 46:41 to win the women’s title while Lee had a time of 34:34 to rule the men’s side.

The 3k race was topped by Mark Vincent Bernaldez (09:50) and Keisha Mae Delechos (11:10).

The running event was part of a series of activities lined up for DYAB’s 20th anniversary this month.
