OFFICIALS of the Cebu Technological University (CTU) said the establishment of an extension campus in the mountain barangay of Bonbon, Cebu City has no approval from the school’s Board of Regents.
They also denied that enrollment is going on and that classes will start there on June 22.
Jerlito Letrondo, CTU chief administrative officer for administration, met with Cebu City Hall officials in an emergency meeting called by the City Legal Office Monday morning.
“As far as CTU is concerned, we also want to protect our interest,” Letrondo said.
He said they weren’t aware of the tarpaulins being put up by Rep. Rodrigo Abellanosa of Cebu City’s south district advertising the enrollment.
Letrondo even said Abellanosa’s office didn’t ask for their permission in using the school’s logo. He said they’ve conducted admission tests last week to 90 students but less than half only passed.
He said this is also another reason why chances are slim that the extension campus can push through since Letrondo said they would need at least two classes in order to put up the extension campus.
In a separate interview, Abellanosa said it’s incumbent for the CTU to proceed with the extension campus because a P3 million budget has been included in the country’s approved budget for its implementation.
