CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama and other Cebu City officials are scheduled to leave for Sydney, Australia for the 117th Philippine Independence Day observance there.
The mayor and the officials will attend the Philippine flag raising ceremony at the Parramatta Town Hall, Centenary Square, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia this Saturday.
Rama told reporters in yesterday’s press conference that the event is hosted by Parramatta City Mayor Scott Lloyd together with The Consul of the Philippines in Sydney, Marford Angeles.
Parramatta City Council and Cebu City have sister city ties. Cebu City officials will meet with Parramatta City Mayor Scott Lloyd tomorrow before the flag raising ceremony.
Other invited officials include Belinda Navascues, the mayor’s secretary; Elmre Leabella, supervisor of Public Information and Protocol Office; lawyer Leslie Ann Reyes, Protocol officer; former congressman Antonio Cuenco, chairman of the Cebu City Sister City Commission; and Franklin Seno, member of Cebu City Sister City Commission.
They were invited by the board and members of Banag-Banag Inc., an organization representing the Visayan speaking community of the Philippines in New South Wales, Australia.
Rama said they will return to Cebu City on Sunday, June 21.
