Man accuses cop of mauling him in Minglanilla police station

A 31-year-old man accused a policeman of mauling him inside a police station in Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

JL Carias Almenario said the policeman grabbed him by the neck, punched him and pointed a gun at him last Tuesday.

Almenario and PO3 Eduardo Librando have bad blood between them as former neighbors.

Almenario and  his common-law wife went to the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch (PIDMB) yesterday morning to file a complaint for grave misconduct.

The mauling took place Tuesday morning, after Almenario attended a court hearing in Minglanilla for a case of physical injuries he had filed against the policeman in 2012.

Almenario recalled that after the cross-examination, he returned to his seat and saw the policeman in the room make a threatening signal with his finger slicing across his throat.

After the court hearing, Almenario went to the town’s police station to report the policeman’s behavior.

Librando was standing near the door talking to another policeman.

Almenario said that as he walked in between the two policemen, Librando grabbed him by the neck, punched him and pointed a gun at him.

Another policeman intervened to pacify the law enforcer.

Almenario said the policeman tried to handcuff him and put him in jail but his girlfriend intervened.

Almenario said he tried to ask help from other policemen in the station but they did not do anything.

Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, chief of the PIDMB, said they will further investigate the matter.
