CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III wants the Provincial Board (PB) to open an item for a resident psychologist who will to attend to the over 2,494 inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).
He also considers tapping government agencies that have psychologists so they can help in providing services to the inmates while the province is yet to hire a psychologist.
Following the incident last June 8 where 12 inmates showed signs of hysteria, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) recommended that it would be better if there is an in-house psychologist at the CPDRC who can talk to the inmates.
The PHO has asked for help from the Department of Behavioral Sciences of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) on this matter.
