The craze brought about by Disney´s animated movie, “Frozen,” does not seem to be ending any time soon.
School bags featuring several “Frozen” characters, such as Elsa, Anna and Olaf, have been selling like hotcakes in several stores in the downtown area.
Not only are they reasonably cheaper than those sold in malls, they are in demand among the younger students. A “Frozen” bag is sold at less than P100 each while branded backpacks old in malls cost between P500 and P2,000.
One store in Colon offers small, “Frozen”-themed school bags at P70 each. The school bags are suitable for kindergarten pupils.
Young girls, especially, are drawn to bags with a picture of either Anna or Elsa, the animated movie’s lead characters. They are easier to sell than those with Disney princesses or Barbie dollas.
“Usa nalang jud ka “Frozen” bag nahabilin namo – kaning pink (Only one “Frozen” bag is left in our store – the pink one),” a vendor said. The store is waiting for its next shipment of the “Frozen”-themed bags.
Other stores also feature “Frozen”-themed notebooks, pencils, pencil cases and other school supplies.
More children prefer to have school supplies featuring their favorite characters from the movie.
Several stores were filled with children cajoling their parents to buy them the notebooks covered with pictures of the “Frozen” cast, rather than the standard, solid colored notebooks that budget-conscious parents typically buy.
Some parents even automatically gravitate to the “Frozen” designs, knowing that their child or children would want their school supplies to have that design.
