Technotour eyed as new tour package in Cebu

WITH the success of the Technotour Amazing Adventure Challenge, industry leaders are thinking of promoting the program as an additional tourism product in Cebu.

Cenelyn Manguilimotan, chairperson of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) tourism committee, said Technotour is a combination of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo and Amazing Adventure, a local take on the popular reality show Amazing Race.

Manguilimotan said Technotour may meet the corporate sector’s requirements for less-than-typical team building activities for their employees.

“Team building is just so yesterday. Now it’s more of incentive travel. One way of doing team building at the same time enjoying a destination is through the Technotour Amazing Adventure,” she said.

The program was first held last week as part of the Cebu Business Month. Technotour is a 3-day, 2-night package for teams of 4. The teams solve clues and complete mental and physical challenges while experiencing Cebu’s tourist destinations, food, people, culture and heritage.

Manguilimotan said the package will be offered as a regular tour package to expand Cebu’s tourism product offerings.

“We don’t want Cebu to be so limited because Cebu has so much to offer,” she said.

The chamber’s tourism committee also spearheaded the Cebu International Travel Fiesta last week, with up to 50 hotels, travel agencies and other tourism-related entities participating  in the exhibit.

The Cebu International Travel Fiesta was initiated by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry also as part of the annual Cebu Business Month. Manguilimotan hoped it would become the first of many CCCI tourism expos.

“It’s high time to really make action. So many talks have been done. Through something like this expo, there is really interaction. At the end of the day, the Chamber will have activity and the stakeholders will have business,” she said.

Through this activity, Manguilimotan said more tourism-related companies will be encouraged to be more creative in coming up with activities and programs to entice consumers.
