First fire in 2014 hits Samboan, 6 houses burned

While most of the families were celebrating the New Year, six families in Samboan town had to scramble for their lives and save some of their belongings when fire broke past 1:30 p.m. on the first year of 2014.

The fire started in the house of Pepe Dingal and spread to five other houses nearby.

Five homes were gutted while one is partially burned. Residents had to put off the fire with pails of water.

Fire fighters from Oslob came more than 10 minutes after the fire broke followed by the team from Malabuyoc and Santander.

A town employee drove the fire truck of Samboan towards the fire scene.

The responding fire department declared fire out two hours after the incident.

PO2 Ressel Jabagat said the fire damage is pegged at P300,000.

No one was however injured during the incident.

The fire department said the fire is caused by fauly electrical wiring.

Jabagat said the fire victims had to live with their relatives in the same town.
