Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak yesterday apologized for a possible miscommunication which could have caused confusion on the planned purchase of fire fighting and rescue equipment for barangay auxilliary forces.
Tumulak reiterated that the purchase request worth P44.6 million which they submitted to the BAC was intended for the barangays and not for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
In a radio dyAB interview, Tumulak who is in Palawan for a COA procurement seminar, apologized to the city council and BAC members for the “miscommunication”.
He said that the council and BAC members may not have been properly briefed that what they actually wanted purchased are equipment for the barangays.
Tumulak, in charge of the city’s command center, said he is still awaiting copy of the BFP request for equipment dated April 6 which is now with Councilor Gerardo Carillo.
City Fire Marshal Rogelio Bongabong listed two engine fire trucks, 10 units of base radio, 27 fire trouser, 27 fire helmets, 22 fire nozzles, fire hoses, and fire pumps, among others.
But the purchase request reportedly included items not requested, including a folding scoop stretcher, stretcher twice-foldable, fox portable fire pump, delivery hose, select flow nozzle, AED pad with CPR advisor, battery, SCBA set and a kit bag./WITH UP CEBU INTERN MARY CLAIRE U. CATADO
