POLICE precincts in Cebu were advised to strengthen their ties with community stakeholders by inviting their feedback in order to improve the police’s campaign against criminality in their respective jurisdictions.
Commissioner Luisito Palmera of the National Police Commission (Napolcom), who attended yesterday’s kickoff of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month cited the Police Regional Office’s performance in reducing crime in Central Visayas.
Palmera cited PRO figures which showed a decline in crime incidents from 41,353 from January to June last year to 39,331 this year.
He also introduced the concept of the Community and Service Oriented Policing System (CSOP) which is now pilot-tested in three barangays of Palawan.
Palmera said the CSOP will help in following the Philippine National Police (PNP) mandate.
“The community and service-oriented policing system is aimed at further strengthening local government capability (in law enforcement) through collaboration and cooperation,” Palmera said.
