Labra leaves PRO-7 to be police attaché

AFTER almost three years of holding a key position in the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO) 7 as the head of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Senior Supt. Paul Labra II will soon vacate his post to work as police attaché for Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar and Thailand for three years.

He will be based in the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia.

“There is no relief order yet but soon I will be reporting to the Directorate for Intelligence in Camp Crame.  I’m about to begin my one-month orientation in Manila,” Labra told Cebu Daily News.

Labra said  his deputy chief, Supt. Rex Derilo, who is now  officer-in-charge of the regional intelligence unit, will  continue what he has started especially  security  preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the coming national elections.

Labra flew to Manila yesterday to undergo an orientation in Camp Crame.

Earlier this year, he attended  a training program on  anti-crime, anti-terrorism and anti-human trafficking in Russia.

Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of staff of PRO-7, said  Labra’s relief will be a big loss to the region but that they do not want to hinder his  career growth.

Labra, 45, graduated third from the Philippine National Police Academy and is a member of PNPA batch 1991.

He  took up an intelligence class in Camp Crame in 2009 and graduated with highest honors.

He was formerly assigned as the head of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

He  also held the position as deputy for operations of CCPO.

Labra was also assigned in the Intelligence Group at PNP Camp Crame before he was  posted as chief of RID of PRO-7.
