After opening its doors in the Philippines in 2013, FamilyMart, one of the world’s largest convenience store retailers, is coming to Cebu through its first territorial franchisee, Family Table Inc. It will be the first store outside Manila.
“We are very excited to be bringing in a brand we really believe in. We’ve committed to investing in a significant number of branches in order to give the best possible convenience store experience to Cebu.” says Allen Arvin A. Tan, president and managing director of Family Table Inc.
Founded in the ‘70s, FamilyMart was one of the few establishments who pioneered the ‘convenience industry’ during Japan’s intensive modernization. Over the years, FamilyMart has become an essential part of people’s daily lives by consistently providing customers with fresh and high-quality merchandise in the spirit of fun and family through fast and friendly service in a safe, clean and attractive environment. The aggressive growth of the company in the market led to expansions in different places outside Japan with over 23,622 branches in eight other countries including China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the US.
In the Philippines, FamilyMart is operated by Philippine FamilyMart CVS, Inc. – a joint venture between leading specialty store retailer SSI Group Inc. and property development giant Ayala Land Inc. with Japan FamilyMart and one of Japan’s largest conglomerates Itochu Corporation – and has enjoyed rapid growth with wider merchandise and a significant increase of customers.
FamilyMart recently opened its 100th store in the Philippines at Market! Market! at Bonifacio City in Taguig. In the third quarter of the year, several FamilyMart establishments will open in Metro Cebu to mark the arrival of Japan’s trusted chain store in the Visayas area. Cebu residents can look forward to carefully curated, fresh ready-to-eat Japanese food and twirl-all-you-can soft-serve ice cream, among others.
