THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) Webmasters table tennis team will start their bid for glory under the 100-man Cebu City team in the 2015 National Finals of the Philippine National Games, which will start in separate venues today in Metro Manila.
Seeing action in the men’s division in regular table tennis at the Harrison Plaza are UC’s Fausto Comaingking, Mark Ortega and John Vincent Cabaluna.
The triumvirate of Roland Cabaluna, Dioland Fernandez and Efren Jacalan will also begin their campaigns in the Liha (Sandpaper) division.
In the distaff side, carrying the hopes of the Cebuanos are Jerny Pepito, Diana Oliverio, Athena Comaingking and Leslie Agbon.
The other national finals events that will open today are; arnis (Marikina Sports Complex), baseball (Rizal Memorial Sports Center Baseball Stadium), cycling (Pilila, Rizal and Jala-jala), dancesport (Makati Coliseum), fencing (Philsports Fencing Hall), football (RMSC Football Stadium), judo (Makati Coliseum) and lawn tennis (RMSC Tennis Center).
Also to be held are rugby football (Nomads Paranaque City), sepak takraw (Marikina Sports Complex), table tennis (Harrison Plaza), underwater hockey (Philsports Swimming Pool), volleyball (RMSC and Arellano University) and wrestling at the Marikina Riverbanks.
The Dancesports Team Cebu City (DTCC) will also be starting its campaign for glory with seven gold medalists in last year’s 2014 PNG competitions leading the charge.
The Cebu City Men’s Tennis Team, which will be led by head coach Fritz Tabura, will be composed of RJ Abarquez, Janjie Soquino, Jan Godfrey Seno and Chang Mai Necesario.
