CEBUANA Ana Patricia “Ica” Maximo of YKKBikes.com delivered a second medal for Cebu City when she bagged a silver medal in the Individual Time Trial (ITT) 10-kilometer cycling event of the Philippine National Games in Rizal Province.
Maximo finished second in the women’s junior category with a a time of 29 minutes and 58 seconds. Irish Wong from Olongapo won the gold with a time of 28:39 while Toni Krog of Caloocan took the bronze with a time of 30:42.
Maximo, a two-time Sportswriters Association of Cebu awardee, also bagged a bronze medal on Saturday in the 56-kilometer Road Race.
Aside from the rain and fog, Maximo also struggled with the unfamiliar route and the steep slope of Bugarin Hills in Rizal. Still the 15-year-old multi-titled cyclist managed to overcome the odds and finished second.
“I was scared because the road was slippery but I kept on praying that I won’t fall off my bike,” said the 4th-year student of the Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus.
