Fire dep’t wants rooms back from CCMC

The regional Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-7) office wrote the Cebu City Medical Center to inform them they will re-occupy soon three rooms that the city hospital is using in the BFP-7 compound.

BFP-7 Information Officer Ethel Margaha said they are still waiting for a reply from CCMC management to the letter they sent last June 15.

She said they were supposed to have re-occupied the rooms last June 17.

The rooms consist of the firefighters’ quarters which were converted into two central supply sections and a property and supply room for CCMC.

Margaha said about three-fourths of the floor was occupied by CCMC, which leaves only one fourth for the BFP-7’s use. She said the rooms will be utilized by BFP responders.

The responders are situated in different areas of Cebu City that are far from the main BFP building. “We want to be fully operational,” Margaha said.

Atty. Rey Cris Panugaling, CCMC chief of hospital for administration, said the city government maintains the use of the rooms for the city hospital which was transferred to the BFP-7 compound after their building was severely damaged by the October 15, 2013 earthquake.

Meanwhile, a Cebu City-based medical waste management firm delivered their first check worth P20,000 to the Cebu City government to help finance the construction of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

The Pollution Abatement Systems Specialists Inc. (PASSI) earlier pledged to give P100 for every client they service to  the hospital project.

“Our clients are those in health services, and this is our commitment to help the city government deliver those services through CCMC,” said Julito Pogoy, PASSI president.

Pogoy said they hope to contribute in their small way to building a city hospital that can offer quality healthcare services to the city’s indigent residents.

He said they will continue to donate P20,000 each month until the CCMC’s completion./With UP Cebu Intern Juli Ann M. Sibi
