THE 2ND Annual International Cebu Ladies 10’s Rugby Cup kicks off today at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The tournament will feature the Cebu Lady Dragons Rugby Football Club, which will go up against a tough field that includes foreign teams such as the Hong Kong Flying Kukris, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Valley Meerkats, Gai Wu Rugby Football Club and NTU Women’s RFC.
Another contender is the Manila Durians RFC.
Aside from its aim to foster camaraderie among rugby football teams, the tournament also looks to promote the sport to women.
The Cebu Lady Dragons RFC will be manned by three of the four Cebuanas who competed for the Philippine Lady Volcanoes and won a bronze in the recent Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
They are Dixi Star Yu, veteran Madille Salinas and Mae Ann Ubaub.
The Cebu Lady Dragons RFC won a gold medal in the Philippine National Games in Rizal earlier this month.
