The start of the school year proved to be a bright one for over 500 elementary school children of the Poo Elementary School on Olango Island. Cathay Pacific Airways partnered with The Cebu Travel & Tours Association and U-freight Philippines to bring school supplies to the graders as well as donate brand new computers and printers to make their learning more exciting.

The computers will be available for their use at the library building which Cathay Pacific and U-freight Philippines built at the school and inaugurated just last year. This is the first and only library on the island, and the airline hopes it will open the eyes of the youth to a bigger and brighter future.

Jasmine Chan Cathay Pacific’s Manager in Cebu led the group during the recent visit, and was accompanied by officers of the Cebu Travel & Tours Association (CTTA) led by President Angelita “Baby” Dy. In her short speech before the distribution of school supplies, Baby Dy said that the CTTA has donated school supplies to other schools as well and finds great satisfaction in doing this as they know that the items will help in their advocacy of bring better education to the youth.
