A YOUNGER brother of PB Member Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez-Zaballero yesterday blamed her for the upcoming Bantay Radyo takeover by the Cebu CFI Community Cooperative.
Leodegreco “Greco” Sanchez, who was interviewed after a hearing yesterday, said the takeover was expected because his sister “does not have leadership skills like their father,” the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez.
“The minute I heard about Cebu CFI taking over Bantay Radyo, I expected it already, especially with Gigi. Incapable kasi siya sa mga ganyan,” said Sanchez.
He said their family business, Pafi Techno Resources Corp. which sells the Lactobacillus drink, also suffered when he was put in the rehabilitation center by his sister.
The Garcia-led Cebu CFI Cooperative is scheduled to take over Bantay Radyo from the Sanchez-owned PAFI (Sower of Seeds) Foundation on August 1.
The Sarraga Integrated and Management Corporation (SIAM) already signed a management contract with Cebu CFI.
Zaballero has filed a civil case for specific performance damages, with prayer for issuance of preliminary injunction against SIAM, saying they had a verbal agreement before SIAM signed with Cebu CFI.
Zaballero said she has paid a deposit of P700,000 for the contract renewal and was “shocked” to get a letter informing her that the contract for management and operation of the radio station will go to Cebu CFI.
“I feel my sister cannot do something like this because it takes a mind like Papa’s to run it efficiently while being in office as well. It’s a vital part of our family that was lost,” Greco added.
The younger Sanchez was in the Regional Trial Court yesterday for a hearing on his motion for reconsideration to leave New Horizon drug rehabilitation clinic, where he has been committed in the last two years.
Sanchez was escorted to RTC Branch 8 by three police officers from the Provincial Intelligence Branch.
According to Sanchez, the hearing, presided by RTC Judge Macaundas Hadjirasul, proceeded “nicely”.
“The judge asked us to submit a memorandum laying out all our best arguments until Monday. After the memorandum will be submitted, we will ask the judge to speed up the process so justice can be served,” said lawyer Rameses Villagonzalo, one of the three legal counsels of Sanchez./UP Cebu Intern Juli Ann M.
