Capitol staff study sign language

PERSONNEL of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the extension office of the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) with some community organizers took the initiative to attend classes in sign language.

This is for them to serve their clients better especially the hearing-impaired.

This decision was arrived at during the celebration of the Persons with Disability Day in Ayala Center Cebu earlier this month. In the activity, personnel came in contact with many hearing-impaired and verbally-challenged persons in the crowd.

Liza Aldred of the Volunteer Services Overseas – Bahaginan, a non-government organization (NGO) based in the United Kingdom, conducts the classes for free as part of the NGO’s outreach program.

Classes started last July 7 and are divided into four sessions that last for two hours per session.  /CAPITOL PIO
