Cebu bets eye quarterfinals seats

CEBU’S FINEST beach volleyball warriors hope to bag spots in the quarterfinals as competition in the prestigious PLDT Home Ultera-Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2015 intensifies today at the SM By the Sands at the SM Mall of Asia.

The Gilligan’s pair of former Southwestern University great Danika Gendrauli and Norie Diaz seek to barge into the next round when they face off against duo of Foton Hurricane’s Pau Soriano and Bea Tan.

“Our victory will be worthless if we could not sustain it next week,” said Gendrauli, the beach volley sensation from Cebu who starred in the Sisig Queens’ stunning 21-19, 21-14 victory over the HD Spikers A in the opener.

Meanwhile, the Meralco pair of former Philippine team member, ex-University of the Visayas standout Jusabelle Brillo and Jem Gutierrez, hope to do the same when they tangle with the Foton Tornadoes side of Patty Orendain and Fiola Ceballos.

Switching over to the men’s side, the Champion Infinity B pair of former University of San Jose-Recoletos spiker Louiejie Tipgos and Marjun Alingasa battles Perpetual Molino while the Cignal

HD Spikers B team of former University of Southern Philippines Foundation tosser Emmanuel Luces and Jay dela Cruz faces off versus the favored SM By the Bay A team of two-time Nestea Beach Volley national champion Jade Becaldo and Hachaliah Gilbuena.

The Cignal squad will also be taking on IEM while SM By the Bay A takes on Perpetual Molino B in what is expected to be an action-packed day of beach volleyball.
