Red Cross turns over P200K to wife of slain Lapu barangay captain

THE Philippine Red Cross turned over a P200,000 check to the wife of the late Agus, Lapu-Lapu City barangay captain Jovencio Lauron as accidental benefit.

Lauron was ambushed and slain on May 3 while on his way to Sagbayan, Bohol to attend a fiesta together with his family. Though police were able to kill two of the four suspects in a shootout last month in Bohol, the motive of the killing remains unknown.

Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova chapter administrator Vic Jay Gonzal said that prior to the attack, Lauron availed of the Premier Gold membership program of one of the Red Cross’ fundraising projects, paying a membership fee of P500 valid for one year. His wife, Carolina received the check from chapter chairman Teddy Ybañez in a simple ceremony at the mayor’s office last Tuesday.
