CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III will be in Manila to attend President Benigno Aquino III’s final State of the Nation Address (SONA) tomorrow.
Davide will return to Cebu on Tuesday, said Diane Higida, the governor’s assistant.
The governor is the leader of the administration-backed Liberal Party in Cebu and will deliver his second and last State of the Province Address on August 17.
Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera said Provincial Board (PB) Member Christopher Baricuatro and Alcantara Mayor Beatriz Caburnay will also attend the President’s SONA.
Natera said Rep. Wilfredo Caminero also invited other elected local officials.
For their part the Public Services International-Trade Union Rights (PSI-TUR) said they hope that the President’s last address will include the ratification of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention Circular No. 151.
In a press conference yesterday, the union said the circular covers the protection of the right to organize and procedures in determining conditions for workers.
If the circular is ratified, it would allow employees to organize, collectively bargain, settle disputes and undertake ordinary union activities.
