Raid in Pulang Bato nets drugs worth P700K

Police raided three houses in barangay Pulang Bato, Cebu City yesterday and confiscated at least P700,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs.

Police operatives swooped in at the houses of Fernando Borbon and relatives Rodelio and Bryan Buntoyan  in sitio Dita and confiscated the illegal items. The subjects of the raid, however, escaped during the operation, but they arrested three men possessing packs of suspected illegal drugs in the houses.

An estimated 61 grams of suspected shabu were also confiscated from the houses with an estimated value of  P719,800. The joint operation was conducted by the operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group  (RAIDSOTG), Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and the Regional Public Safety Batallion (RPSB).

Drug paraphernalia for repacking were seized in the house of Borbon, including two magazines of unknown firearms, two improvised tooter, nine ammunition of 9mm and 38 caliber with one bullet. While in Rodelio’s house, four medium packs and 11 small sachets of illegal drugs were seized. In Bryan’s house, four medium packs and 31 small sachets were recovered.

Senior Insp. Joey Bicoy of the RAIDSOTG said they secured a search warrant from Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 19 Judge Wilfredo Navarro after they ascertained the illegal operations of the suspects that they had put under surveillance for a month.

He said they sought the help of other police units in the operation especially since the area can only be accessed through two roads  and operatives approaching the houses are easily detected.

The arrested men were Marlon Maunes, Gellie Alquiza and Charles Alenton. Bicoy said that Borbon, Rodelio and Bryan, who remain at large, are on their list of level two drug pushers or those who can dispose around 200 grams of shabu in a week.

The three arrested men are now detained at the Cebu City Police Station 2  pending the filing of charges.
