The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will celebrate those who took risks to think out of the box and change everybody’s lives for the better.
This year’s Mandaue Business Month, which will be held on selected dates from August 1 to October 23 so as not to impede the APEC meetings, will carry the theme “Celebrating the Game Changers.”
“Mandaue chamber likes to think outside of the box. We are the game changers,” MBM overall chairperson Marylou Ang said during the launching of the event on Saturday.
Included in the lineup of activities are the Mandaue Business Summit, launching of I Am Mandaue Shop, WINNERs Fashion Walk, Rediscover Mandaue Industrial Tour and Glee for Gold Finals.
The summit, set for Aug. 14 at the Oakridge Pavilion, will discuss the best practices in various sectors.
Among those invited are Francis Kong, president of Success Options Publishing Company and FunWorks Inc.; Ho Sun Yee of Decision Processes International; and Dr. Donald Patrick Lim, chief digital officer of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.
“This will be a day of learning. All businessmen will convene and get inspired and learn from each other,” said summit chairman Steven Yu.
Marlene Bedia, who is in charge of the industrial tour, said the activity will reintroduce Mandaue as a tourist destination.
Travel writers will be invited to tour selected factories in Mandaue on Sept. 18. They will also visit the emerging entertainment centers and learn the city’s cultural heritage.
“This is our way of saying, hello, we’re still here,” she said.
A much-anticipated event, which will also be held for the first time, is the Glee for Gold contest.
Wilson Ng, chairman, described the contest as a cross between American TV show Glee and movie Pitch Perfect.
Ng said he is encouraging all 27 barangays in Mandaue to form a choir and join the contest.
This year’s celebration will also coincide with the chamber’s 50th anniversary.
Jeruel Roa, past MCCI president, said they will show how the chamber has evolved.
“MCCI is now dynamic and alive. Participation in our events go beyond membership. We truly are game changers,” he said.
