STARTING today, the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) will set up traffic signs along the roads and issue advisories to motorists to prepare for Wednesday’s rerouting.
Glenn Antigua, acting TEAM chief, said they will distribute flyers to tricycle drivers, passenger jeepney drivers, motorists and commuters to guide them.
One-way traffic will be enforced in four main roads tomorrow: S.B. Cabahug, P. Burgos, A. del Rosario and F. Cabahug.
The pilot scheme aims to decongest traffic in preparation for the Cebu meetings for the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
“These streets are located in the heart of the city,” said Antigua.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes earlier asked for public cooperation in the traffic scheme in order to cope with ongoing road repair projects in national roads.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 6th Engineering District Office has nine ongoing road rehabilitation and drainage projects.
These projects are in A.S. Fortuna St. (near new Mc Donald’s), A.S. Fortuna Extention, M.L. Quezon St., Hernan Cortes, J.P. Rizal St. (Butuanon River flood control), H. Abellana St., Plaridel St. (going to Cansaga Bridge), Plaridel St.(along Tita Gwapa) and A.C. Cortes St.
Cortes said the new traffic scheme will help decongest traffic for the duration of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit which starts on August 22.
