Cebu Provincial Treasurer Emmanuel Guial yesterday said the provincial government has received a total of five awards and citations.
Cebu Province was cited by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) for posting the highest growth rate in locally sourced revenue collections.
The Capitol earlier received the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping for 2014 from the Department of Interior and Local Government.
The BLGF also awarded the province for posting the 2nd highest collection in real property and and business taxes.
“It is great to know that the efforts of our provincial government, especially the treasury, were recognized,” he said in a press conference.
As of June this year, he said total revenues have reached P1.4 billion, about half of the 2015 annual target of P2.859 billion. The Capitol collected a total of P2.438 billion last year.
Guial said their highest collection came from the district hospitals, which contributed P86.4 million as of June.
It was followed by real property tax, P48.2 million; Cebu South Bus Terminal, P33 million; sand and gravel tax, P13.6 million; and transfer tax, P10.18 million./UP Cebu Intern Mary Claire U. Catado
