Mariners’ Court adds sports bar

THE JSU-PSU Mariners’ Court Cebu will open a sports bar and restaurant to provide clients, especially visiting seafarers, a place to relax and unwind.

Wen Norie Uy, sales and marketing officer of the Mariners’ Court, said the hotel management invested at least P5 million in the Azotea Sports Bar and Restaurant.

The new outlet, which is located at the rooftop of the 7-story hotel in Pier 1, will be inaugurated on July 31 and open on Aug. 1.

“This sports bar is an addition to the many amenities for the seafarers, so there’s no need for them to go to other places,” said Uy.

It has two function rooms that can accommodate birthday celebrations, seminars, reunion and other special events. Each room can accommodate 60 people.

A comfortable entertainment or videoke room is also available for those who want to sing.

Uy said they also target to attract the working class and young professionals.

Customers will be treated to acoustic music through live bands. A huge flat screen with cable TV has been installed.

Aside from offering food and drinks, the bar also has facilities for billiard, air hockey, dart, chess and scrabble.

Mariners’ Court manager Ofelia Zabate, who was instrumental in the construction of the bar including its interior design, said the advantage of the sports bar is its ambiance and location.

Since it is at the rooftop of the hotel, customers have a view of the Mactan channel, South Road Properties (SRP) and Cebu City.

Zabate also placed a mini garden and wall fountain between the main bar and the function room.

The hotel earlier put up a fitness gym intended not just for the seafarers but also for the public. The hotel also hosts a review center for seafarers and two manning agencies.

More than 100 seafarers, members of the All Japan Seamen’s Union (JSU) and Philippine Seafarers’ Union (PSU), either stay or transact business at the Mariners’ Court.

JSU and PSU members may avail of privileges at the bar.
