Fire department, Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) responds to an alarm at the arrival area of Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Thursday afternoon.
Thick smoke streams out of the International Arrival area. Authorities believe the smoke came from the air handling unit of the airport.
Passengers who are at the International Arrival Area were evacuated to a separate gate at the domestic arrival area.
Some flights were disrupted during the incident. At least 340 passengers from two flights were temporarily asked to stay at the lounge.
At around 2:30 p.m. MCIA announced that the building is now safe for passenger re-entry after ERUF declared the situation under control a few minutes after they received the alarm.
Lapu-Lapu City Fire investigators pegged the damage at P1 million.
