The University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars took off on a winning note after they routed the University of Cebu Webmasters, 85-68, in the 15th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Jaguars played fast and loose and zoomed away to a 9-0 start that set the tone for the lopsided rout.
Macmac Labares led the Jaguars with 15 points, three rebounds and two steals while last year’s Mythical Five member Kevin Villafranca had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie Ricky Peromingan also chipped in 10.

After leading 22-10 in the first, the Jaguars pounded away at the vertically-challenged Webmasters to build a 40-26 halftime lead.
Later, a steal and a lay-up by Labares pushed the lead to 20, 68-48.
Justine Dacalos paced the Webmasters with 16 while Earl Montilla added 15.
The Baby Webmasters though, came away with a 54-49 win over the Baby Jaguars in the juniors division.
